The Concept of Corruption and Jailing In Nigeria

Corruption according to Wikipedia is the abuse of bestowed power or position to acquire a personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement. Government, or ‘political’, corruption occurs when an office-holder or other governmental employee acts in an official capacity for personal gain.

You’re ONLY “corrupt” in Nigeria when:
1: You’re in the wrong political party
2: You’re from the wrong tribe
3: You oppose the powerful

ANYONE claiming to fight corruption by jailing corrupt people will have 95% of his party members in jail, Unless prosecution is biased. So what’s the point I’m trying to pass you might ask. Any unbiased drive to end corruption by jailing people will depopulate ALL parties in Nigeria to near-zero. Prevention is fairer in my opinion.

Treasury Single Account (TSA) does not know political affiliation, the E-Wallet platform does not know tribe just as IPPIS does not know godfather. But “jailing”? Very very subjective.

Our history bears me witness on this. “Prosecution and Jailing” of corrupt officials has always been biased in Nigeria or else political parties won’t exist.

I just hope within the next few years, we would move to a better structure where the loopholes for embezzlement are blocked and if anyone finds a way to, they would be protected irrespective of party affiliation, tribe or godfather.

God Bless you, God Bless Nigeria
